Jim Prosser

Jim Prosser

Owner/winemaker

Jim’s life reads like a Reader’s Digest condensed malady:  Six sisters / Bend, OR / Family hardware store / Oregon State Univ / Xerox Corp / Porsche / Marriage / Commercial Real Estate Finance / Un-marriage / Sell House / Peace Corps – Lithuania / Climbing in the ‘Stans / Bicycling across U.S. / Broke / Winemaking in OR, NZ, AUS, France / Deadly wasp allergy revealed / Bootstrapped JKC winery – unpaid / Pulled in sister – details / Married sugar momma in education – still unpaid, but health insurance / Solidly self-employed by questionable boss – paid / Bought hilltop & built new winery / Father of daughter – tattoo artist, climber…maybe winemaker.

Linda Crabtree

Linda Crabtree

General manager (& sister)

Linda’s life is not so complicated. She willingly gave up a scientific editing career (Spectroscopy!) to raise three young children with her husband Greg. After moving to Portland in 1999, she quickly grew weary of listening to Jim cry in his beer about all the difficulties of starting a winery, and tentatively proposed she might ‘help a little.’ That management-of-the-details gig quickly grew to full time, and beyond, to mesh with her lifetime implicit belief that she was, and is, the boss of Jim.

Jon Sillcocks

Jon Sillcocks

National sales

Since a chance encounter with the one and only Jim Prosser in 2004, Jon has been part of the JKC family. Initially “green as the day is long,” Jon earned his stripes by surviving three harvests working alongside the big man himself. He now knows a bit about wine (although he still can’t fix a broken-down car.) He can be found preaching the JKC gospel from San Francisco to New York. Jon’s real claim to fame  — besides his flip flops — is his dear Sage, the original JKC winery dog. Bedford Hills Elementary School D.A.R.E essay contest winner (1990).

Chris Burrough

Chris Burrough

Assistant winemaker

Showed up on the JKC doorstep in late July 2013, wet and hungry / Paying penance for sins of past lives, whilst filing away apprenticeship hours / Domaine Droughin, Highfield, Erath / Hated, or couldn’t hack (you decide), working in restaurants / Does not, in fact, do voice-over work, but will record your voice mail greeting for a nominal fee / Husband to one, dad to one … dog, brother to four, son to two … Marines / Aka Boris Kodjoe, Jr. / Thinks he’s such a big deal, he actually refers to himself in the fourth person.

Raul Salinas

Raul Salinas

Hospitality & vineyards

Raul, a Midwest-born Man of Leisure (needing sponsorship), traded offices and policy for food and wine some forgotten years ago. His world tour has included kitchens and vineyards from New York’s finest to Antarctica’s coldest. Drawn to Oregon’s finicky Pinot noir grape and JKC’s pursuit of delicious beauty, he landed clothed at the winery doorstep for harvest in 2011.
